Soft Still Yin
A slow, grounding practice with long-held postures to release tension and cultivate stillness.
Service Description
Soft Still Yin is a slow, introspective yoga practice centered around longer-held postures, mindful breathing, and the art of softening. This practice invites you to release muscular effort, create space within the body, and reconnect with yourself through stillness and awareness. Unlike more dynamic yoga practices that use movement and muscular engagement to build heat and mobility, Yin invites you to settle into postures and allow the body to gradually open over time. Rather than actively pulling or pushing into a stretch, this practice encourages you to soften, relax unnecessary effort, and explore the sensations that arise within each posture. Most postures are held for around five minutes, with some held for shorter or longer periods depending on the shape and intention of the practice. These longer holds provide an opportunity to work with the deeper layers of the body, including connective tissues and joints, while cultivating patience, presence, and awareness. Throughout class, you will be guided through supported postures with opportunities to use props and modifications to create a sustainable and nourishing experience. The focus is not on achieving the deepest expression of a pose, but on finding a place where you can remain present, breathe, and soften into the experience. Soft Still Yin offers a quiet space to step away from the constant movement of everyday life and reconnect with your breath, your body, and the present moment. Through stillness and awareness, you are invited to notice the sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise while practicing the art of staying present with what is. Whether you are looking to balance a stronger physical practice, explore greater mobility, support recovery, or create more moments of stillness in your life, Soft Still Yin invites you to slow down, soften, and return inward. (Join live from anywhere through Zoom. After registering, you’ll receive your Zoom link and class details. Please create a comfortable space for your practice with your yoga mat and any props you would like for support, such as blankets, pillows, blocks, or bolsters.)
